PROTEST PIZZA + BAR - QUEER-OWNED PIZZA & COCKTAILS IN DUPONT CIRCLE
PIZZA BY THE SLICE, FROYO, FROZEN MARGARITAS, WINGS
HOSTING?
Protest Pizza is built for more than slices. We host casual group hangs, office lunches, birthdays, team parties, school/family events, community meetups, holiday parties, semi-private events, and full buyouts.
Bringing a group by after a game, park event, meeting, or neighborhood activity? We love that. Casual groups do not require a minimum spend or deposit. Advance notice is appreciated when possible so we can prep, staff, and make sure your group has a great experience.
For groups that want reserved space, food ready at a specific time, a semi-private setup, standing-room party space, or a closed-to-public event, minimums apply based on timing, guest count, menu, and how much of the shop your group needs. Contact us and let's get your Protest Pizza Party goin'!
PROTEST ISN'T JUST IN OUR NAME.
We've ended our DoorDash partnership over the company's support for federal legislation that would give Congress greater control over D.C.'s local tax and fee decisions.
We're still on Uber Eats and Grubhub. Ordering direct helps us most.
Community Highlights

Protest Penny AI Receptionist
Penny, our goodest girl and the namesake of our new AI phone receptionist, hanging out in front of Protest Pizza. She keeps watch on 17th Street and now answers our calls too — well, the AI version does. Either way, you’re in good paws.

Our Vegan Menu Is Here
We built this menu with care. We partnered with DC Vegan, tested a lot, and listened closely to feedback from the vegan community. You’ll find Violife mozzarella and parmesan, Prime Roots pepperoni and smoked meats, and other plant-based ingredients we’re proud to use. Everything is 100% plant-based. This menu exists because our community asked for it—and we’re excited to share it with you.

Leigh Mosley: Documenting Our History
At Protest Pizza, we believe our space should do more than serve great pizza — it should honor the people and movements that paved the way for equality and visibility.
This showcase celebrates the work of Leigh Mosley, a photographer who has spent decades documenting the LGBTQ+ struggle for liberation. Her images capture moments of courage, community, and resistance — reminders of how far we’ve come and how much work remains.
As gay-owned business owners, we’re proud to use our walls to educate, reflect, and inspire. Leigh continues her work today, marking her 80th birthday this year, proving that the fight for justice and love never ends. Through her lens, we’re reminded of our shared legacy — and our responsibility to carry it forward.
TOUCAN COCKTAILS
Toucan Cocktails are our house drink. They’re easy, fun, and strong in all the right ways. And right now, Protest Pizza is the first — and still the only — place in DC where you can get them.
We wanted a drink that fits our space: no fuss, quick to grab, and perfect for the park, a slice at the counter, or a late-night stop on 17th Street. Each cocktail is mixed in-house with real spirits and fresh flavors. Just shake, sip, and you’re set.
Try one with your pizza, take one to go, or grab a few for your crew. They’ve already become a neighborhood favorite.

SWAG TIME
We’re proud to share that our Protest Pizza hats have landed and boy are we loving them.
Of course, our shirts and hoodies are amazing too.
Grab your PP swag, show it off in the neighborhood, and wear it with pride.
