Two delicious pizzas from Protest Pizza Bar

PRIDE IN EVERY SLICE

A Queer-Owned Pizza Shop and Bar in Dupont Circle

Protest Pizza + Bar is an independent, queer-owned pizza shop and neighborhood bar at 1633½ P Street NW, just off 17th Street in Washington, DC.

We built it to be the kind of place we wanted in our own neighborhood: lively, unfussy, genuinely welcoming and always worth another visit.

Bigger Slices. More Choice.

At Protest Pizza, pizza by the slice is the main event.

We bake 16-inch pies and cut them into six generous slices for the counter, not eight. One slice is big enough to feel like a meal.

Our counter goes well beyond cheese and pepperoni. You’ll find classics, Protest favorites, specialty pizzas and vegan options, so you can stick with your regular or try something new. Whole pies are cut into eight slices for sharing and are available for dine-in, carryout and delivery.

Come Hungry. Stay for a Drink.

There is more to Protest Pizza than pizza. We serve jumbo chicken wings, crispy boneless wings, salads, tots and frozen yogurt, plus frozen margaritas, beer, wine and cocktails from our full bar.

Stop in for lunch, dinner, happy hour or late-night food until 1 AM on Fridays and Saturdays.

Feeding a crowd? Protest Pizza also offers pizza catering for office lunches, birthday parties, community gatherings and events throughout Washington, DC.

Built by Ricky and Randy. Rooted in Dupont.

We built Protest Pizza from the ground up, with a lot of hard work and a lot of support from our neighbors, nearby businesses and the Stead Park community.

We did not choose the name by accident. The first Pride was a protest. We believe a neighborhood business can serve great food, treat people well and still stand for something.

Our LGBTQ+ identity is part of who we are and how we show up. Protest Pizza is a safe, welcoming place for our queer community and for everyone who respects the people sharing the space.

We are proud to be part of the 17th Street LGBTQ+ corridor. We support local organizations, artists and small businesses whenever we can, because being a neighborhood restaurant means being part of the neighborhood.

Come for a slice. Stay for a drink. Bring your people.

More variety. Bigger slices. Better value. Pride in every slice.
